Shën Veneranda Catholic Church is a historic church located in the Durrës region of Albania. It is dedicated to St. Veneranda, a 4th-century martyr. The church dates back to the mid-14th century, and is believed to have been constructed during the period of the Despotate of Epirus. The building underwent renovations during the 18th century by Bishop Petar Budi, who gave it its present form. It is one of the best churches in Albania which you must visit.

History:

The church has traditionally been associated with the generation and dispersion of the relics of an Albanian heroine named Veneranda, who lost her life in 303 A.D. Her relics were spread throughout different regions in Albania, with exact locations unknown. This is why, it is considered one of the oldest churches in Albania.

Shën Veneranda Catholic Church measures 8.3 meters by 8.3 meters and stands over 13 meters tall. It has four arched doors, two of which are made of oak, while the other two are made of stone. The walls are made of white marble and decorated with colorful frescoes. The building is decorated with the motif of the sun and the moon, the four rivers, the lion, and the laughing cow, among others.
